East Meets West in KIMU’s New Designs

To mark the launch of new pieces in its New Old Collection, Helsinki- and Taipei-based KIMU collaborated with designer Eugene Yeh to showcase the collection in the charming à la maison

Exploring the intersection of Asian heritage and Western aesthetics, Helsinki and Taipei based lighting and furniture brand KIMU distinguishes itself with its poetic and practical designs. The brand recently launched a clutch of new products as part of its New Old Collection. The pendants and floor, wall and table lamps in the collection are ‘electrified interpretations of the ancient lanterns invented in Asia nearly 2,000 years ago’, and the traditional form and function of the lantern has been reinterpreted by KIMU in versatile and flexible formats designed for the modern home.

For the launch, KIMU collaborated with designer Eugene Yeh to showcase the collection in à la maison, his private space on the ground floor of a 50-year-old townhouse in Taipei. The result was a harmonious meeting of vintage interiors and contemporary design.
